Orthopantomography, often referred to as an OPG X-ray (or panoramic x-ray), is an X-ray technique that provides a comprehensive, wide-angle view of the lower face.
- It captures all the teeth in both jaws, even those that have not erupted, like wisdom teeth.
- Additionally, it provides insights into the jawbone and the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
Preparation for OPG Xray
- The OPG unit at our dental clinics in Dubai is specifically designed to move around your head when taking the X-ray.
- Just like with any X-ray, you will be asked to take off jewelry, glasses, or metallic items as they can interfere with the image.
- The panoramic X-ray is usually done in about 3 minutes, but the actual image capture only takes about 20 seconds.
